New Provincial Affordable Housing Strategy
Our government has launched a new Provincial Affordable Housing Strategy which will help more Albertans save for the future and find safe and affordable place to call home.
More than 110,000 Albertans live in government-supported affordable housing. This strategy will give those people and their families new tools to help stabilize their finances, find a safe home and build better lives for themselves and the people they love.
Two major highlights:
-Exploring mixed-income models in affordable housing, which will allow tenants to pay an adjusted rent if their income rises. This allows tenants to say in their homes and doesn't penalize people for getting a better job.
-Increasing asset limits from $7000 to $25,000 which will mean more families can save for their education, a down payment on a house, or put money away as a safety net for the future.
