Alberta Child Benefit

Craig Coolahan, MLA Calgary-Klein - Home

Our government wants every child in Alberta to be able to take advantage of every opportunity their community has to offer. The Alberta Child Benefit makes life more affordable for families and puts money into the pockets of parents to help pay for things their children need, like soccer shoes, dance classes, and extracurricular activities.

Lower-income families with net income below $41,746 per year can receive a maximum annual benefit of $1,114 for one child and up to $2,785 for four or more children. 5 for four or more children.

To apply, simply file a 2016 tax return.

Community organizations throughout Alberta are holding free tax preparation clinics for lower-income Albertans. Take advantage of these resources to make sure you aren’t missing out on opportunities for your children.
